About

This is a web site designated to the beer scavenger hunt.  I’ve done at least 1 every year for the past 6 years and it’s always been one of the best days of the year.  This is a site to promote the hunt and to help other people around the world conduct their own.  If you’re interested in doing a hunt, contact me.  If you’ve done a hunt, let me know.  Or if you’re just a fan – read on….

How can you organize a hunt without the hassles that outdoor/public drinking can get participants into? I’d love to set this up in my neighborhood which is big and has a bunch of small parks. I’m not sure a pack of 30-something adults chugging beers next to kids playing would go over well. At the same time hiding beers in participants houses is boring. Any suggestions?

    Thanks

This is a good question and one that we hear frequently. First, not all participants will be drinking together. They will be scattered across the area in teams of 4, so it would be only 4 people drinking in public in an area. Second, most people should have a container to drink out of so it is not obvious that people are drinking beers.

I’ve been involved in over 20 hunts and i’ve never had one problem with the cops. If the hiding is done well and people are careful, you should be ok. You’d be surprised.

I participated in the 2006 & 2007 Wine Hunt in Italy with Mac all my other fieldschool friends….two of my favorite nights in Chianti! I was telling a group of my co-workers in New Orleans about it last weekend and am now planning one for the end of January. Thanks for such a wonderful idea!
